Profile

Erica Pimentel is an Assistant Professor in the Smith School of Business at Queen's University.  Her research explores how technological disruption impacts the ways in which professionals engage with their work. She conducts this research using a variety of qualitative approaches, namely interviews, ethnography and netnography. The technologies she focuses on are blockchain and remote work. Erica holds a PhD and MBA from Concordia University, an LLM in Tax from York University. She is a CPA, CA and worked in public accounting before entering academia.

Impact/Engagement Activities

Erica is passionate about research communication, especially as it relates to bringing the accounting academics and professionals together. She is a frequent contributor to The Conversation and has appeared in the National Post, the Wall Street Journal, and on numerous radio and television shows across Canada. She collaborated on Opening Accounting: A Manifesto and is a Network Leader for the AARN (Alternative Accounting Research Network). With Charles Cho, she is the co-founder of Accounting for Impact.
