Profile

Julie Bernard joined the Sustainable Lab Finance at Ivey Business School, Western University in September 2022 as a postdoctoral scholar. Her research project aims to understand and facilitate the replication and scaling of a highly innovative Canadian financial product that applies finance for nature-based carbon mitigation.Her research has been funded by various organizations including Carbon Solutions @ Western and the Canadian Academic Accounting Association (CAAA).

 

Julie got her in Management from Faculty of Business Administration at Université Laval in 2022. Her thesis focused on shareholder activism strategies and stakeholder engagement in sustainability reporting. Her research interests are on responsible investment and sustainable finance. She was awarded Bertram Scholar by the Canadian Foundation for Governance Research. In addition to her research experience, she has previously worked in responsible investment and shareholder engagement.

Impact/Engagement Activities

In 2021, she collaborated on Opening Accounting: A Manifesto and co-authored a report on responsible investing and Indigenous peoples. She sits on the board of Fonds de recherche du Québec-Société et Culture. She is a member of the inaugural Steering Committee of Accounting for Impact and, with Alessandro Ghio, she is the Website Coordinator.
